Alex Fortune Scholarship

 

The Alex Fortune Scholarship was started by the family of Alex Fortune, who in his youth had been a well-liked and highly regarded participant in the Timberhill Tennis Club junior development program. The scholarship is available to applicants and participants of the Timberhill Tennis Club Junior Development Program. The scholarship covers 75% of class fees for any class session, and is renewable for sessions directly after the initially covered session, up to a maximum value of $2000 per person, per class year. The class year runs September 1-August 31 annually. All applicants must re-apply each year for consideration.

Do I Qualify?

If your income is between 0 and 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, you are eligible to apply for the Alex Fortune Scholarship.

Scholarship applications are currently being accepted for Year 2026-2027
(available to use September 1, 2026, through August 31, 2027).

How to Apply

Follow these steps to apply:

  1. Complete the application.
  2. Attach your proof of eligibility. Preferred documentation includes, but is not limited to:
    • Proof of Public Assistance (TANF, WIC letters – photocopies of cards are not accepted).
    • Proof of assistance through the Oregon Health Plan (OHP card).
    • Verification from Benton County Health Department or Corvallis School District 509J Free/Reduced Lunch Program.
    • If you do not have one of the preferred methods to verify income, submit one of the following: most recent paystub or tax return.
    Note: Bank statements, unofficial documentation, or the Oregon Trail Card are not accepted.

Scholarship Use and Restrictions

Scholarships can be used to help pay for Timberhill Tennis Club junior development program classes, but cannot be applied to:

  • Corvallis Parks and Recreation classes.
  • Valley Tennis Academy classes.
  • Private or semi-private lessons at Timberhill.
  • Membership fees or pro shop purchases at Timberhill.

More About Scholarships

The goal of the Alex Fortune Scholarships is to reduce economic barriers to kids learning to play tennis.

Donations to support this program are accepted year-round and can be made in person, by phone, or by mail at Timberhill Tennis Club. Donations are not tax-deductible.
